How does it work?

Feel free to answer the prompt, twist it or ignore it; write a poem of your own or share a poem by another author. Write about your inspiration, your creative process or other poetry related thoughts, but this is in no way obligatory. Nothing is obligatory in this challenge. The idea is to get together, talk poetry and have fun!

How can you take part?

Anyone can take part, anytime you want. Publish your poetry post and add a link to it by clicking on the Poetry 101 Rehab badge below or share your link in a comment. Use the tag Poetry 101 Rehab, so we can find each other in the Reader.

I will act as your host, and I’ll be here for you to reply to your comments, read your poetry, like and comment. While this post is the starting point for the challenge, do visit fellow poets in the link-up and chat to them on their blogs!

This week’s prompt is RAIN.

the cloud

arrives above

soon to shed

her heavy heart

the rain

drips down

silently to smother

the cessation of summer

and, inside

the rain

perpetuates

the pain

My starter for ten, entitled RAIN was inspired by, well, the rain falling outside. What will your take on the keyword RAIN be? Blog about it in a poetry post and share your link in the comments section of this post and by clicking on the Poetry 101 Badge above.

  1. Love the photo–and I’m totally blown away by your poem, doubt I can match it. Rain is always a good prompt here in the NW of USA–in fact, I wrote a Rain haiku last night; but will work harder on this assignment now!

  2. “Stillness Within Rain” – http://wp.me/p5BCD4-ey

As a child I think I had a bit of an obsession with rain. I got out into it whenever I could, occasionally, if necessary, by crawling out through a basement window. And much later on, as an adult and working the night shift at a computer center in the middle of town, when there was a wild rain, I sometimes could be found standing underneath the rainspout that drained an entire roof toward the storm sewers. I love the feeling, the cold somewhat more than the warm rains, but they’re both good. 😀

  3. What a beautiful image Andy – it in itself is absolutely striking …. even when not with the poetry prompt.

And “rain” – interesting subject to consider – so thank you.

And finally, you did a wonderful job with your response – it has a gracious flow – well …. like rain falling …. not torrential – but the “normal” …. it’s raining today … steady and slow … the long drenching …. just lovely …. even if it plays havoc emotionally or physically.

      1. Humbling comment?

You are very gifted Andy – and I love your images and the poetry you share … be proud (not in the egotistical way, of course) but in the beauty you share through your visions

        Cheers
        Pat
