(a) face (in the crowd)

Are those the faces of love, those pale irretrievables?
Is it for such I agitate my heart?
– Sylvia Plath

A face in the crowd, for the WordPress Weekly photo challenge

in his

not (under), his

unfold,

Ascend (again)

Every worthy act is difficult. Ascent is always difficult. Descent is easy and often slippery.
– Mahatma Gandhi

Created, once upon a time, with Nikon D700 and Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 lens, at ISO200, 1/200s and f/6.3 for WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge, Ascend.

Ascend

I have a head for heights it’s true, but no stomach for the depths. Strange then to have plumbed so many.

Jeanette Winterson, Written on the Body

Shot from the window of a Boeing 777 traversing the Sahara, near Tassili n’Ajjer, Algeria, en route from Abuja to London last week.

Grounded now for two or three weeks for some long overdue surgery, painful but a relief to be out of the air for a while!

Created with iPhone 6S for WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge, Ascend.

serene

Death, therefore, the most awful of evils, is nothing to us, seeing that, when we are, death is not come, and, when death is come, we are not.
– Epicurus

we chase it
for eternity
yet, what do we lose

in our (endless)

chase
for, that
serene

(moment)

and
can
we find
it
before that
door

closes?

freedom, is
mine
(was the cry)

and then,
that
freedom

(was sold)
and,

the
price
paid,

the value,
of
that,

(precious) life

the
right
to be

independent

(no

My God, a moment of bliss. Why, isn’t that enough for a whole lifetime?

And walk upon stranger roads than this one
In a world I used to know before
Lyrics from Afterglow – Genesis

There is a backstory (isn’t there always?), which will follow in a later post.

scale

For WordPress weekly photo challenge – scale.

I will be back with more for this challenge. I saw this gas station through the window of my bus, speeding through the night, and grabbed this hurried and blurred shot with my iPhone.

It looked oddly out of scale in the dark.
