Blending the right ingredients

I am not anonymous.

What you see here is the real deal. Me. For better, or for worse.

I chose a long time ago to write here under my own name. I respect the rights of those who choose to write under a pseudonym. It’s a time honoured writing device.

Here on WordPress, in this vibrant and supportive community, I’ve learned a lot about writing, social interaction, what works and what doesn’t. For the most part it’s been a great experience.

This week I’m mixing two worlds, my world of writing, poetry and photography, and my working world.

I’m in Las Vegas, attending the NAB Show, and plan to write a daily post for the consultancy firm in which I am a Partner. It’s an experiment.

You’re welcome to take a look, here at Marquis Media Partners.

In my (work) post I referred to the fact that I chose, this morning, to walk from my hotel to the conference centre. I observed that this immediately marked me out as a quirky out-of-the box thinker, or perhaps a mad Englishman out in the (pre) midday sun.

No one walks here.

I did walk, and I also shot some photos. I used my iPhone having decided to leave the Nikon at home.

  1. Been there many times on business, back when COMDEX was still around (back when Vegas was promoting itself as being family friendly — ha!). I also walked everywhere, about 20-26 miles per day. I’d come home and discover that each of my big toes had gotten bruised under the nail, so good walking shoes are a must out there.

Really high quality food to be had on the Strip now, particularly in the newer casinos like the Bellagio. Lots of high-end shopping and other things to part you from your money.

    Have fun, Andy!

      1. I know what you mean. All the times I went out there, I would only gamble with the pocket change that I generated over the course of the week I stayed there. That worked out well for me, as I always beat the house; maybe not by much, but I never lost money.

      1. I saw this episode of COPS and a police officer got suspicious because someone was walking… He stopped the guy to check out what he was doing, but if I remember correctly he was doing nothing but walking.
