prose is architecture and the baroque age is over
― ernest hemingway
our lives are often too ornate?
keepsakes, that are intended to remind us.
of what?
of things, we once did, felt, saw, wanted?
what is a ‘keepsake’?
for whose sake?
what matters is what lies within.
and, often, those ‘keepsakes’ are just, well just
too
ornate?

Thank you Desley, for almost the first time ever, this was a staged piece of still life. Oh and the light source was a log fire 😉

The didgeridoo is from Uluru, the pipes and rug are from Belgrade…

Oh that rug is beautiful. Reminds me of the dot painting from here.

Yes, it was partly the reason for buying it, how weird that a rug made and sold in Belgrade would be fashioned in the same manner as the unforgettable Western Desert….

I like the poem–and since I now live in very modest quarters, most of my keepsakes are housed in my heart. When connections between the givers of ornate keepsakes are broken, or simply die out, I cannot bear to see the physical items anymore. But that’s just me…

I see the point. I have a mix of both.

Oh I have a few little things–in fact, I just bought an old desk my neighbor had, and it has a small shelf that’s perfect for lovely things 🙂
