poetry 101 rehab: right

“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.” ― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope
“there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic…”
―martin luther king jr, a testament of hope

there was once a young man who flew a kite

who knew that nothing he did was right

he tried, oh he tried, to be heard

it wasn’t until the third

that he saw the light, and knew he was right

  1. I love this very much. In particular the “kite” rhyme, which is original and unexpected but fits well. Also, am I reading optimism underlying the poem? I’m shocked 😉 And thank you for joining my Rehab.
